Back the blue so they can back YOU!

Do you want to feel safe at your event? I sure do. Sometimes clients will often ask if they can provide their own security, and on one occasion I actually let them and it was not good. The trained "security officer" showed up in jeans, a golf shirt that said SECURITY on the back and a knit cap. Keep in mind this was a wedding event. He was certainly not dressed for it to begin with. I was so disappointed in his uniform, and then he left before all the guests were gone. NOT GOOD.

Even if this guy could arrest, the fact that he was not in uniform was certainly no deterrent to any outsiders posing a threat. Fortunately there were none that evening. Hiring a real police officer for your event is the best money you will spend for the protection of you and your guests. It isn't that we think your guests will be a problem; with all the crazy criminal activity around that we don' see, we just don't know who all of your guests are. Anyone could walk in and do damage fast that cannot be undone. Having an officer in uniform is the best way for one to be discouraged of any wrong doing.

If you are trying to cut costs on your event, this is one area where you don't want to compromise the quality and training of your hired security .

Back the Blue so they can back YOU. All lives matter!

What do the colors for your event say about you?

Colors have meanings and create emotion. Emotions are the thermostat to our hearts; they let us know what our temperature is. Emotions are neither good or bad, they just point to our heart and our mind determines if they are valid. Our mind can validate our emotions and can calm us down if we have gone way out there for no apparent reason. We all have that tendency to let our emotions take over. So, back to colors! What are your favorite colors and have you ever thought about what they say about you? Are you drawn to more bright and bold colors that say, "here I am, notice me, I am FUN?" Or more subtle softer colors that say "I am easy going and sometimes a romantic".

You may be drawn to colors that you don't necessarily look good in, but you just love them anyway because they bring you joy. How do you determine what colors to choose for your event?

What emotion do you want to bring out when others see your decor? Fun (bright colors) , crazy & loud, (lots of bold colors), romantic (versions of pinks & reds) relaxing, easy going (monochromatic)?

It's fun to think about!  So when is your next event?

A blast from the past!

620 Main street

Poetry Place originally housed the first indoor car dealership showroom and full service gas station outside of Dallas, Texas, known as Morrison Motor Company Car Dealership & Filling Station.

Today's venue decor showcases original window panes across the front of the building, sixteen foot copper ceilings, and handcrafted brick, which bring a warm nostalgia to this beautiful downtown venue.

These old photos are now murals on our walls in our restaurant & bar event area. Come in and take a tour sometime if you have not seen them.

We now house some of the best events in one's lifetime.
